... of Bag Pipes, Flags, and Men Of Valour ( The Victory Carries On )

Friday : I took the Bible Postal Test again. Although last year I did get 'okay' results, I feel this year, I did not do so well ( not even close ). I was too distracted with concerns of material importance.

Saturday : After much beating around the bush, my usual routine of going to church was cancelled due to my grandmother's abrupt request to stay home because she wasn't 'feeling well' ( Yeah right ! ... it's easier to just admit that she forgot that we go for Mass on Saturdays ! ) Gosh ! Well ... at least I could leave early to go and see the 2006 Band Competition in Dataran Merdeka.

I reached Masjid Jamek first, so in order to kill time in waiting for Sonia, I had a 'Whopper' in Burger King. I was all by myself, I hate eating alone ! All those busy-bodies just staring at you. Watching what's your next move ? ... Them idiots ! Leave people who eat alone, Alone !

I couldn't finish the 'Whopper' ( my my, What big eyes Conrad has, I'm like, so greedy ... a big glutton ! ... where's Phak Hoe when you need him ? Where's that 'black-hole' of a stomach he has ? )

As soon as I met up with Sonia, we headed to some place where we could buy a big bottle of 'what ever' for Denise and Jared. We ended up in Guardian buying water, the liquid that brought forth life, or something like that !?

We reached Dataran Merdeka just in time, the competition just begun. We hurried to the front/end ( depends on which side you came from ) of the seating area. Met Lik Wen, Phon, Wai Loon, Rebecca, and a few prefects, waved to Rubana and Siew Chin in the stands and exchanged hello's near the TV booth to Hazram and gang.

Things started off a bit uneventful. Chong Hwa Highschool started off the competition. They were Okay. The Kadet Remaja Sekolah ( KRS ) from Titiwangsa wasn't entertaining at all. The KRS from Cochrane were far better. They were brave enough to loosen up and put on a show !

When VI's band walked in, everyone knew we were in for a good show. I was so spirited, screaming and singing, showing undivided support to my school. VI's school spirit will ignite any dead lamp ! They were great ! I caught one of the band members doing his 'thing' eventhough his 'mock' rifle hit him square on the shoulder ... Ouch ! ... no matter, he carried on like a trouper eventhough it was quite evident he was in pain. There was one who dropped his rifle too but caught it and did this cool pose ... like as though he was meant to do it ... Victorians, the great bluff-a-logists !!! *wink wink*

Well, need I say this ? VI won every award that was given out ! A total clean-sweep !!! Woohooo... !

I didn't stay on for the rest of the competition after VI competed. Instead, I had dinner with Sonia and Sham in Petaling Street. Then, I went home, WITH the water I had gotten for Denise !!! ... As soon as I entered my room, Denise called asking where was I ? We both laughed over the phone at my circumstance. Haha !

Today: My parents went to Malacca for my Grandmother's ( my mum's mum ) birthday, leaving me here with my grandmother ( my dad's mum ). What a horrible day ! All the work, the lazing around and being bored to death. At least my mum came home with chocolates from England ( her cousin always gives us a whole bunch of chocolates !!! ) . I'm munching on them right now, caramel filled ones, plain ones, ... mmmmmm ... hazelnut filled ones ... and now, a honeycomb filled one. Heaven !

*Did you know that coco was considered the food for the Gods ?! * ... just a random fact ... :)

Rain Rain Go Away ...

I am sick !

I had a sore throat since Friday, but I became even more sick on Sunday. So on Monday, I skipped school and tuition. My body was and still is aching because the high fever I have. Yesterday I could barely walk 5 steps without tiring out. Gosh ! Talk about being sick as a dog.

Today, I woke up from bed fine but before leaving for school, my fever came back. Stupid LRT was so cold, made the whole journey to school even more horrible. As I walked into school, I kept gasping for air. I never get tired walking to school ! Today I needed an oxygen tank to reach my classroom in one piece.

MUET trials were ok I guess. The comprehension seemed oddly easy, which means, I definitely made lots of silly mistakes. I finished the paper 1 hour ahead of time. When I was doing it, it felt as though time flew by too fast. Thank God, Pn. Vasantha allowed those who finished early to leave first. If not ? I would've been seen scribbling nonsense on my testpad or probably forcing myself to have a quick nap.

The listening test was a blunder. I kept mixing up all the information given out from the speaker. The sound system wasn't good, and some passages weren't read out at all. I felt completely lost. I hope I did well in the damn trial.

The summary and essay writing were another story. That whole part of the trial made sweat so much. I overshot my summary by 4 words and my essay was 400++ words. I felt I put unnecessary points in my summary and I think I went out of topic in my essay. Oh well ! luckily it's only a trial. I guess I'll know how well or badly I did next week. *crossing fingers*

School ended a half hour earlier today but it had already started to rain heavily in KL. I waited awhile till Sonia said that we needed to go because Shamelan was waiting for her outside the school compound in the rain. Did you know that all VI prefects are not allowed to carry or be seen under an umbrella !!! ( What kind of rule is that ??? ... They are also not allowed to bend ... as in picking up something off the floor ... !!! What in the world ??? ... I guess they have their reasons as it has been a tradition carved in the very walls of the VI building or at least in the VI prefect's room wall ... uh ... I made that one up... I am a sanguine after all ... *wink wink*)

So anyway, forget my rant about prefects and their very very odd rules ! Sonia, Shamelan and I walked in the rain under our own umbrellas ( except Shamelan ). I got so wet because Sonia kept pushing my umbrella with hers and also because I was trying so hard to adjust my bag.

However, nothing prepared me for the next thing that happened. After about a half hour of Sonia and Shamelan arguing about something trivial ( at the overhead bridge near the back entrance of VI ) ... we were walking along the covered walkway heading to Hang Tuah LRT station ( note : it's still raining ) and a few cars zoomed by, splashing water all over Sonia and I. Sonia screamed and so not only was I drenched in dirty rain water, but I also lost my hearing for awhile. I guess it was punishment for providing and persuading a VI prefect to use an umbrella !

In the LRT station, I could feel myself getting sick-er by the minute, so as soon as I reached home, I had a long hot shower ... aaahhh ... ! Now ? I feel a little better but still very tired and drained. My chest hurts because my breathing is blocked and I still cough horribly as though I ate barb-wire in chilli sauce, garnished with paprika nails for lunch.

Ugh ... ! When I want to get sick, I don't ! When I don't want to get sick, I do !

The resurrection, The Cross, and The Forest Reserve.

Wednesday: A few from my class ( U6BM ) and about 90% of U6BF students all went for a day of a fun-filled expedition through the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia's ( FRIM ) ... forest ! All of us were quite excited, be that we were missing a whole day of school. No Maths, no Chemistry and no Biology to worry about. The trip there was rather a boring one. Most of us were quiet in the bus. The bus driver himself was a pain the a**. When we reached FRIM, Mr. Leong and Mr. Kali ( our teacher advisors ) decided that we should fatten ourselves up ( but not too much .. ) before we jungle trek through the forest. As soon as we finished, we met up with our guide, a young malay man ( the only malay within our very large group ). He first took us to the man-made pond ( it was once a mining shaft ... I think thats what you call it ? ). He told us to clap our hands when we reach the pond because the 'Dragon Fish' which dwells within will surface. None of us expected to see what we saw. The fish was about the length of our body or larger and it was red ( it's fins on the upper body would stick out of the water ... thus giving the impression of a dragon under water ). According to the guide, FRIM gives home to the largest Dragon Fish in the world. Did I forget to mention that this fish when hungry, can devour a human being ? ... *shudders*

We then were dragged into the FRIM's museum which houses the longest ratan ( rotan ; 65 metres ), humongous tree stumps, all types of wood displays ( types of wood, carved beds and many other things ) and also different types of insects and plants. All of us ( after a very long and boring talk by the guide ), were given sometime to check out the stuff in the museum, which translates to us as = run around here and there whilst taking many many pictures of ourselves and friends.

And finally, after all that, we were taken into the jungle. The guide gave us first a briefing on the rules and regulations before we enter the forest ... much blah-ing after that, we trekked through the jungle and every now and then we would be stopped to listen to the guide's rant on the plants that he decides to show us. For the first half of trek, the guide made a few frequent stops but after that, it was quite a smooth sail. Denise, Tinesh, Suzanne, Jino, Phak Hoe, Benjamin, Phon and I were the ones right at the end of the group. We were the ones either making so much noise, taking photos, or making fun of Jino ( because he said that his camera would save him if he was lost in the jungle ... hahaha !!! ) the whole time. Hence, we got much 'ssshhh'-ing from Mr. Leong. We all experienced so much in the forest/jungle ( I just realised I have been referring to it as forest and jungle the whole time ... whats the difference between these two words ? ). I had spectacular views of the lush greenery. We were even taken to the area known as the 'postcard area' because it appeared in the National Geographic Magazine. It was so picture-sque. Even the trees high above us looked like intricately woven carpets. So beautiful. Needless to say, we didn't see much animals, except a chameleon, ugly leeches and I saw a big beautiful bird ( which oddly enough I forgot about - I read yesterday's newspaper about jungle spirits and how they disguise themselves as big beautiful birds too lure forest visitors away from the group ... *a cold chill down my spine* ... did anyone else see that bird ? )

We all missed the canopy walk because it was apparently under repair or was it because they were moving big rocks away ? ... I forgot ... Anyway, to ease us, the guide took us to two very beautiful waterfalls. The first was a small one where most us climbed up the rocks to take pictures. The rest just stood around or played in the small stream. The second waterfall was huge and very slippery. The group rested there ( on a very big rock ), whilst the restless ones jumped up and down in the water or climbed up to the top of the waterfall. Let me just say that it wasn't a very easy climb because it was very slippery. At the top, I took two pictures of Phak Hoe and Ben, which I don't think turned out nice at all. Sorry Ben ! ... *sheepish smile*. When everyone finally came down from the waterfall, we took a group picture and headed off to the cafeteria again. Along the way, Suzanne went home ( her uncle picked her up ).

The journey back to VI was fun at first till the bus driver screamed at us for being too noisy. After all that drama, the idiot ( the bus driver I mean ), took us in circles before we finally reached VI, and shouted from one end to another to engage in conversation with another bus driver. There are more names I would like to use on him but I shall let it be. He will suffer in hell ... I'm praying for it.

*it's funny how Denise and Ben never blogged about our whole trip to FRIM*

Friday: Good Friday was celebrated at Assumption Church in Petaling Jaya at 11.30am. My family and I arrived on time which meant, no available seats in or out the church. It was so jammed packed. It started to rain somewhere in the middle of the service and those sitting in between the tents provided got drenched in rain because all the rain water splashed on them , poor souls ! The rain never stopped even after the service at church ended which was at 2.00pm. Being the eldest meant sacrificing myself and get wet in the rain when running to the car. My younger brother and sister had the umbrellas to themselves ... *mutters something bad * The good thing about Good Friday was that I got to miss school and tuition ... eeerrr... not that it meant much or anything ...!

Saturday: Easter Virgil. At 5.00pm, me and my family already left home to Assumption Church to celebrate Easter ( the rising of our Lord ). We got there at around 6.00pm ( because my dad took two wrong turns and we ended up in Subang Jaya ! ). Again, the church inside was packed but my mom and I found places outside the church. My sister got shoved in between to old ladies in the church ( Haha ! ). When Mass begun, it started to rain again. It was so cold and everyone was pushed under the tents provided. Which meant, hardly enough space to move. The best part about the rain ? Everyone ( hundreds of people ) being shoved closer to each other, because when all of us sung, it was melodious. I was so jubilant at that point. I felt something ... like a sprout of joy from within as we all sang together. For that moment everything felt it would be okay.

After Mass, I was supposed to go to VI for the Indian Cultural Society Show. But the rain put a damper on things and when I called Sonia, she said the practically almost everything was ending. However, my dad was very keen on sending me there, eventhough I said that there was no point in going. I made my decision to go after much persuasion from my dad ( which is odd because he would usually say that I shouldn't go for these things ! ). When We reached VI, all the roads were blocked because Stadium Negara was having a concert of all Indonesian rockers. When I finally made it to VI I managed to catch a few shows.

Overall, from what I saw, everything seemed great. All the performances ( by the Victorians, girls included, were spectacular ). Sonia looked the prettiest amongst all of the eventhough, during her dance performance, she missed a couple of steps. Her partner on the other hand, looked as though he was being electrocuted all the time. I went home with Matthew and Farid on the LRT. These to fellas were so interested in Punitha and Asvini, unfortunately for them, the girls are both taken.

Today: Easter. My mum made pie and a few cookies. My family left me home alone today because they had to fetch back my grandmother from Rawang. So basically I spent the whole day cleaning up my mum's mess of making the pie and cookies, run in the rain to take in the clothes on the line and watching TV. As you can tell, I spent the whole weekend doing no studying or any homework. I am so going to pass my STPM. *sighs* ... when am I going to learn ?

My Fault ! It Was My Fault ! And I'm Sorry !

Today was a day of 'my faults'. MUET class started with Pn. Vasantha hounding me for forgetting to hand in the MUET results to Mr. Leong about a month ago. Truthfully, I carried the results with me everyday, but it just slips my mind to hand it in. I can be that way sometimes. I have short term memory.

I redid my Bio practical during recess. I originally wanted to do it earlier with Denise but the Girls Club had a last minute, out of the blue meeting. I had a horrible result for my last chromatography. Ok, for those who go 'Huh ?', chromatography is a slip of paper with the 4 different coloured pigments ( chlorophyll, karotene ... bla bla ... ) obtained from the grinding of leaves, acetone and ( how do you say pelarut ? ... dissolver ? thinner ? ... my england no good ! ) when Denise finally came, we did it together. Amongst all the fighting we still made a pretty good team. Although, Denise's chromatography came out fine the first time, mine just faded so fast ! After much help from Denise ( all the gloating she did ! According to her, I jinxed myself because I said my practicals always turn out good, if not , better ! ), mine finally turned out ok. Both of us obtained 3 out of 4 coloured pigments.

Whilst all the struggling and whining I did during the practical, a few others, mostly U6BF ( Denise's class ) students came in to redo their practicals too. Phak Hoe dropped by, but wasn't in a very good mood as he had a terrible day yesterday and today he found out a few unsettling stuff. What am I talking about ? Well, he found out a few things that might jeopardize the FSC orientation and our source of earning money for the club.

Another fault that I did was mention Kian Ming's name to Phak Hoe. I got Suzanne to ask Phak Hoe about Kian Ming and the leadership camp they went for recently. I know Phak Hoe hates Kian Ming to the max ( I just love it when Phak Hoe gets fired up, his insults are very fun to hear ), but, I didn't know that Ben ( who was by Phak Hoe's side ) didn't like when people made fun of Kian Ming. So in the end I begun the heated debate between Phak Hoe and Ben about judging people and namely judging Kian Ming. I felt so guilty that the both of them were just arguing about everything and some of the things Ben said cut through my heart.

It made me realize that we all judge people because they are different. Ben's point ( I think ... ? ) was that we cannot judge a person no matter how angry or annoyed they make us. Nor should we keep bringing up the topic of how much we a hate a certain person to other people. I was cut through the heart because of this, I do this all the time. I always get caught up in the moment of my anger and just blast about everyone to the nearest person. It is no excuse. I was ashamed ... very ashamed when Ben pointed it out. So, I shall try to not be so open about my feelings ( mostly anger and hatred ) about certain people to other people.

That's so gonna be so hard !!!

CLEO's 50 Most Eligible Bachelors

This past week has been very tiresome. School work, tuition work, and house work seemed endless till the weekends came. Last night Debbi, Michelle and I met up at the nearest mamak. It had been a very long time since we meet up at a mamak restaurant. OK, so people meet up usually at a mamak stall but the stalls here close early, and the stalls usually look horrible, like every rodent and insect has had infested the mamak stalls. we spent only about an hour because Deb had to leave early, No Worries, we were meeting up the next day ( today ) at KLCC. Michelle asked Deb and I to follow her watch CLEO's 50 Most Eligible Bachelors show at KLCC.

Michelle picked us both up and we left to the LRT station. Not long after leaving the parking lot, Michelle ( the Oscar winner for blurness ) ran back to her car to get her Touch 'n' Go card. Deb and I had a very humorous ride all the way to KLCC because Michelle was asking lots of funny questions on public transportation ( the LRT ). One of her questions ? ... 'We reached already ar ?' When in reality, we just passed the first station. Or the question , 'Should we get down here ?' after passing every 2 stations !

Upon reaching KLCC, we decided to have lunch at the food court where we all shared my scrumptious Hawaiian pizza. Then, we moved down to the 1st floor to get a good view of the upcoming show. We chose a good spot, a floor above the stage. We could see the bachelors coming down the runway perfectly. I was getting quite restless because the show was supposed to start at 1.30pm but it didn't and the people standing behind me were always hitting my precious ass. Finally, according to Malaysian time, the show started at about 2pm with Dayang NurFaizah singing three English songs, two of which were old Beyonce songs ( Baby Boy and Crazy In Love ). When she was singing Baby Boy, she looked up at the audience above and she stared straight at me ! I was shocked ! Why stare at me ? Sure I was making fun of her untimely performance and the annoying crowd below me, but her stare just threw me off course for awhile. Debbi started laughing because I was genuinely was shocked that Dayang stared at me !

So, the show of the bachelors finally started and I, at these events, L.O L.O L.O.V.E to make fun of those looking nervous or making severe grammatical errors or those who just come off as simply too dorky or too weird. Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed because there were plenty of people to make fun off. The show was hosted by Serena C and Rashid Salleh ( a former CLEO Bachelor winner ). It started off with the contestants/bachelors introducing themselves, then they had a few games to play involving the female audience. It was so damn funny ! They had the bachelors eat marshmallows off of the girls backs, move balls in between their bodies, dance ( professionally ) to the cha cha and do push ups and pick polystyrene aplhabets with their mouths. Even the audience got to question some of the bachelors.

During certain intervals Michelle Debbi and I were trying to get passes to every place that these people would be at. Michelle, Debbi and I got invites to the Zouk Bash ( on the 28th ), whilst Michelle and Debbi had invites to the later tea party after the show at KLCC was over. Somewhere in between this period of time, Michelle, Debbi and I rushed to Dunkin Donuts and zoomed off to the Putra Lrt station so that I could make it in time to go home, luckily, I called home only to find out that I needn't be home so soon because my parents had changed certain plans. So we went back to catch the tail end off the show. When it ended, we all managed to get pictures with a few celebrities ( Rashid Salleh, Serena C, Adam Caruthers, Kenji and Azwin Andy ). I waited for awhile when the girls had to throttle off for the Tea Party. It wasn't long till they came back, red in the faces ( mostly because all the bachelors huffed and puffed cigarettes at the place they were at !!! )

We had dinner at Secret Recipe where we talked about personal stuff and laughed much more at Michelle's blurness. On the way back, it rained. Deb and I got Tam a present for her very belated birthday. And now, after a very long day, tired legs and a sleepy head, I cannot type anymore. I had a very eventful day today. Was star struck. Was happy, but now, alas, I am sleepy.

P.S : Did I forget to mention that we took so many pictures of ourselves and with the celebrities and bachelors too ... ? You can see some of my pictures on Friendster ... Weee !

So let me be ... Goodnight Dear readers .... zzzzzzzZZZZZZ !

It's Not Easy

It's not easy sometimes when everything you are responsible of comes crashing all at once. Lately, my work, from being a monitor, a treasurer ( for the monitors board ) and Biology group leader, has become quite tough. There's always tons of work to deal with and many characters to face, all which cause more trouble than help. This past week, I have totally neglected my studies ( although it is common that I do this, but this week, I guess I squandered much more than I should have ). Notably, I seem much more tired than before, with all the running during school hours and rushing to tuition and then completing my assignments be it class homework or just plain work !

With all these, I end up wasting time to relax and forget everything what-so-ever that was supposed to be done in the first place !

Then, there's the dealing with my very unruly classmates and schoolmates. Some people can be so insensitive. No matter how dastardly annoying they may be, I remain calm ( that's the only action that holds me together. The one thing that allows me to rationalize ). If not for friends to 'bitch' at, I might've died under all the pressure. It's always hard to be the 'bigger person', especially when people push you to the point of breaking. I guess those who have great responsibilities should remember that people know not of what they do most of the time. They do not rationalize and so we have to listen and stay calm. No matter how heart-breaking it may be, one must realize it takes two to tango, take charge and don't give up. In the end of the day, you must be satisfied with your self. Forget what others think. ( It will always be hard, I too find it hard to abide by this. But, nothing is imPOSSIBLE ).

As hypocritical as this may sound, but I need to rest !!! I feel drained. I'm numb.
